Epica Animal Health to Preview New Veterinary-Specific Surgical Navigator at VMX

Updated: Nov 19

First-of-its-kind veterinary navigator will be used in live demonstrations

LANDRUM, S.C. (October 21, 2024) — Epica Animal Health will be debuting its new veterinary-specific surgical navigator in booth 5613 at the VMX Veterinary Meeting and Expo, January 25-29 in Orlando.

Show attendees will have the opportunity to watch and participate in live, hands-on demonstrations with the navigator. A model canine leg will be onsite, along with a surgical drill, allowing participants to simulate surgical conditions while the navigator displays real-time 3D models to aid the procedure.

In addition to enhancing accuracy during the surgery, the new surgical navigator allows veterinarians to diagnose the problem with a high-resolution CT scan and plan the surgery in 3D using the navigation software. These three functions combine to ensure precise and efficient surgical paths and boost a veterinarian’s confidence that the surgery will go as planned.

The new surgical navigator joins Epica’s catalog of veterinary-specific imaging equipment, which also includes the Vimago™ GT30, Vimago™ GT30 PICO and Pegaso™ Evolution CT scanners. The navigator is compatible with existing software available with the Vimago units, but users will be able to pair the device with any CT scanner.

Epica’s veterinary-specific surgical navigator will be available for purchase in early 2025.

“Veterinarians have historically been using surgical navigators designed for human care. However, calibration to the small anatomical details in animal patients can be challenging,” said Joe Soto, CEO of Epica International. “Having this first-time veterinary-specific navigator in the market will allow veterinarians to diagnose with clarity, plan with accuracy and perform with precision even better than they were before.”
